Anybody who demands the death of five kids who were innocent is extremely unhinged. The last I checked, rape was not a death-penalty crime in the state of New York, but does a lunatic like Mr. Trump care about that? No, he does not. And this is a guy who wants to run the country?

Not to mention a guy who lives in, and made his fortune in, one of the most unstable countries in the world. Although the fact that this strategy has never worked in any country is reason enough not to follow it. Look what happened to Russia.

Yeah, sorry, it is nowhere said explicitly that the red line shows the US as a whole. If one sees these plots often enough, it's just something you know, so I missed that this needed explanation.

It's just before / after. I just took the plot from somewhere else, a vertical line in February 2011 would have been more to my liking: before February 2011 Wisconsin followed the US trend, afterwards it stagnated. In February 2011 Wisconsin's passed their job creation laws.

In other words, their governor failed thoroughly, yet remains in office because some people paid a lot of money to obscure this simple fact. Sounds like plutocracy to me.

The blue line and the green points? They're the same, the difference is that in February 2011 Wisconsin's job creation legislation was passed, so it highlights the difference between before and after.

That's one of his more sensible policies. The Spartans had it right - you enslave the MAJORITY. That way, they take care of absolutely everything except whatever it is that you want to do! Plus it keeps their market value low.

another thing is how in the hell could MCA possibly be viewed as being as famous as MJ or whitney? im pretty sure thats all that is being made about it. if the press was chatting up MCA the prez would be too.

but calling the dude not black... uhmmm.. someone needs to read about race a bit more.

The article is not ridiculous because of the relative merits of the various artists. It is ridiculous because it is racist.

Concerning motives for obituaries by the prez: Obama is too old to have grown up on the Beastie Boys, and even though the Beastie Boys enjoyed a lot of cross-over appeal, I doubt that they have many fans who are now in their fifties or older. Unlike Whitney and MJ.

In twenty years, Whitney's version of several songs will still be the best renditions, nobody will have been able to cover "Billie Jean" without sounding retarded, and any five drunk college kids will be able to successfully sing "Fight For Your Right."

I'm not saying that MCA wasn't talented, but I think this is overrating the man. I wonder how often Joe Curl hangs on Obama's every word like this, just waiting for the President to legitimize reality with an utterance.

I don't even have an opinion on a movie I haven't seen!

There are critics that I would love to see discuss this film: Ebert, Harry, Matt Atchity, Alonso Duralde. I'm eager to read their reviews, but none of them are up yet.

I'm simply saying that Christy Lemire--who I do read--sometimes isn't the best measure on issues like this.

Take it from someone who reads everything she watches, and her podcast: you have no idea what is going through Christy Lemire's mind when she's reviewing a movie.

I still, for the life of me, don't know what movie she was watching when she reviewed The Help.

While a complicated topic, one can easily find lots of places in the bible proving that intermarriage is also not allowed, start here for links to examples http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interfaith_marriage_in_Judaism

Of course, in the judaea of biblical times there were no other-race people around, so particular mentions of race are absent, but the same message is still there.

TMNT don't seem serious now because we are older. When I was 7 that shit was pretty much scripture to me though. I don't like the fact that dudes can buy a name and attach it to any random ol shit and trick the public into seeing it because its something they're already emotionally invested in. Okay I was going to play Devil's Advocate here but then I read the article. Good lord. On the bright side: as the article points out, this was never a very serious franchise. It's not like they're presenting the relationship between Batman and Robin with sexual overtones, or having a Superman who stalks Lois. Ha ha Hollywood would never do that.
